AcerAspireOneD255

The Acer Aspire One D255 netbook has a case design that is similar to the case design of another laptop. It is similar to the recently released Aspire One D260. It is known that the Aspire One D255 features a faster processor. This netbook is powered by a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core processor (512KB of L2 cache) really supports hyper-threading. This means that Windows could report to you that you have 4 processors even though you don’t. The hyper-threading capability of this processor also gives you a performance boost when you’re doing some processor-intensive tasks. You could also be doing multiple different tasks.

The Asus Eee PC 1015N has one of Intel’s shiny new dual core Atom N550 netbook chips. It is not the only computer taht has these chips. It is possible that we will see an awful lot of mini-laptops sporting this processor soon. Right now it appears that Asus and Acer are the first two companies with products in the works. You can see that Macles has posted details about a new Acer Aspire One D255 netbook. The netbook has the dual core Atom chip.

The Acer Aspire One D255 features a case design that is similar to another laptop. The design is similar to the recently launched Aspire One D260. The main difference between the laptops is the chipset.

Powering the net book is the Intel Atom N550 processor. The processor features dual 1.5GHz cores with 512KB of L2 cache. The processor is like other Atom processors. The N550 supports hyper threading. This means that Windows could report you have 4 CPUs, even though you don’t. It is possible that the hyper threading should give you a bit of a boost when performing some tasks or multitasking.

Acer’s upcoming Aspire One D255 is getting some Internet buzz these days. The netbook will be Acer’s first to be powered by the Intel Atom N550 processor. The D255 is quite similar to the Aspire One D260. The Aspire D2 is the one that sprouted last month. The 10.1-inch netbook will be extra special. It will perform better with that dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU.

Aside from a few design element changes, we’ll probably be seeing a lot of the same internal specifications. The specifications are like the six-cell battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and up to 250GB of hard drive space. It is possible that the AOD255 will also support dual boot of Android and Windows 7 like the AOD260.

The Intel Atom N550 sports two cores. The cores are clocked at 1.5 GHz, with 512KB L2 cache each. They supports hyper threading. This results in four threads or virtual cores. It isn't the first dual core Intel Atom. The first intended for netbooks. Both previous models are named 330 and D525. They are designed for desktops and so called nettops. This doesn't stop Asus to build a few netbooks around them. Many think they had little success.

It's quite true that adding a second core improves responsiveness and general desktop performance. This does not solve the main problem of the relatively slow Intel Atom. It is a fact that performance is worse if an application isn't multi-threaded. Each core is being clocked a bit lower than current single core Intel Atoms. Intel tackled this problem in their "i" processors. They added Turbo Boost, which progressively overclocks a core depending on core usage. They also use a few other parameters. It is very unlikely such a complex feature can ever be added to the Intel Atom.

We've just spent the morning fondling an Asus EcoBook -- the first laptop to feature real bamboo panelling. Yes, bamboo -- the stuff that's gobbled up by pandas and used to construct beach houses in the Maldives.

Making a laptop out of wood doesn't sound all that sane a project, but we should probably get accustomed to this sort of thing -- Asus has already delivered the first leather-bound laptops, and Tulip does a range of crazy laptop skins for its Ego range.

The EcoBook, due to launch next year, is designed to communicate Asus' eco-friendly message. Like it or loathe it, you should check out the world exclusive pictures over the next few pages.

The Moso paneling of the laptop proves it. It is possible to personalize the cover of the laptop by engraving a variety of designs by laser etching.

The laptop really does enable users to perform their programs at a greater speed. The bamboo laptop has a built-in camera of 1.3 mega pixels. It also has the Asus SmartLogon and LED light features.

Stanley Wu is the County Manager of Notebook business, Asus India. He said, “The launch of Bamboo Series Notebook will usher in a new ear of green computing. It will mark a paradigm shift in the way computers are used and manufactured. With the ever-increasing concern over global warming and the ecological imbalance, we find it necessary to innovate products that are not only eco-friendly but also commercially viable.” The model U33JC-A1 Bamboo falls within the 13.3-inch segment. The display offers an aspect ratio of 16:9. An LED-backlit display and a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels is great. The new model is already in some countries at a price of U.S. $969.

The Specifications are:

* 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM

* 500GB hard drive

* Intel Core i3-370M processor with 2.40GHz clock speed

* Windows 7 Home Premium operating system as 64-bit version

Some users want their laptops with a wooden finish. There are the Woodie Laptop Skins. You might like these Asus Bamboo notebooks. It is possible that Asus is no stranger to Bamboo notebooks. There are notebooks such as U-Bamboo and the U6V-B1. The U43JC and U43F each have 14-inch screens. The U43JC has NVIDIA’s GeForce 310M graphics chipset. There is an Optimus graphics switching capability to better optimize your battery life. As for the U43F, it has an excellent Intel Core i5 2.26GHz with 4GB RAM and a 640GB hard drive.

A lot of the public has been waiting patiently for Asus to bring the Eee PC 1215N mini-laptop with next-gen NVIDIA ION graphics to the US. It seems that you might have to wait just a little bit longer. Engadget reports that Asus will start shipping the laptop in the States on or around August 23rd. A lot of people can't wait until next week, but they have to take what they can get.

The Eee PC 1215N will have a 12.1 inch and a 1366 x 768 pixel display. It will also have a 1.8GHz Intel Atom D525 dual core processor. The latest NVIDIA ION graphics as well as NVIDIA Optimus technology is for automatically switching between the low power Intel graphics and the higher performance NVIDIA graphics. These draw more power and reduce your overal battery life.

It is a fact that ASUS has showed off another one of its upcoming multimedia netbooks. The netbook is called the Eee PC 1215N. This mini laptop sports a 12-inch 1366 x 768 display. It also has a 1.8GHz Intel Atom D525 dual-core processor. There is also the NVIDIA ION graphics card, a 1GB RAM, an optional 250GB or 350GB hard drive. A webcam is there so that people can communicate over a long distance with audio and video.

The Asus Eee PC 1215N is very powerful. It is as powerful as any Intel Atom powered notebook can hope to be. It has a dual core Atom D525 processor. It also has NVIDIA ION 2 graphics. This means it should be able to support multitasking duties. It can also support HD video playback. It is possible that you can also get in some 3D video gaming while you’re at it.

The Eee PC 1215N isn’t shipping yet. The folks at Netbook Live managed to get their hands on a pre-release unit. They have posted a detailed review of the laptop on the web sites.

It is a fact that the new notebook looks like previous 12-inch Eee PC models. The Eee PC 1215N has a matte case instead of a glossy one. The reviewer is also very impressed with the notebook’s multitasking capabilities. This is thanks to its dual core processor with support for hyper threading. This means you will actually see 3 CPU meters in the Windows Task Manager. The computer also did a good job of automatically switching between integrated Intel graphics and the higher performance NVIDIA ION graphics card as needed.

The combination of the Atom D525 processor and the next-generation NVIDIA ION graphics is a winner. The net book scored 2671 on the 3DMark06 benchmark. This is more than a thousand points higher than the Asus Eee PC 1201N, which has an older dual core Atom 330 processor and first generation NVIDIA ION graphics. The notebook is expected to sell for under $500, because it is quite cheap.

Lap Top Feet

A laptop can have small little feet at the corner of the laptop and they can also be removable. These laptop feet are ideal for any type of laptop user, whether they are at a desk or traveling around the laptop is going to get hot and these easily removable feet can mean the difference between a cool laptop and overheating laptop. Small white colored feet look good on a gray laptop or notebook. Add the small feet to your laptop and you will get the following features and specs for the cool feet laptop stands: includes two tall feet and two short feet, customization in three different angles and positions, comes with special plastic discs to ensure a smooth surface on the underside of a laptop (some laptops have a matte underside), to remove, simply pull the small tab, carrying case included, tall feet: 1″ tall with 1.75″ dia. suction base and short feet: 1/2″ tall with 1.375″ dia. suction base. These laptop feet are priced at $10.99. The Think Geek is the source of this information.

With the laptop feet, you can put your laptop on a brown desk and you can put your laptop on your lap. Type on a small keyboard that is specifically designed for your hands. Some people say that they personally use a stolen McDonalds tray to keep those potentially exploding laptop batteries breathing and off their crotch. If your notebook's bottom is smooth, like an Apple (not one of those gnarly ThinkPad booties) you can suction cup the feet on, and compute with maximum clearance and ventilation between you and your lapbomb. Laptop Legs/Mac Feet are a great accessory for your laptop. They help provide increased air circulation under your laptop and also enable you to work in a more ergonomic position. For those who use their laptops extensively, this will help prevent your wrists and arms from getting tired. With their low profile they don't make your laptop take up any additional space and can be used as grips when removing your laptop from the case. The Laptop Legs/Mac Feet are a well throughout laptop accessory.

Here are some pros of the laptop feet: choice of two heights to elevate laptop - 1" or 1 3/8", can be used to raise the rear of laptop or front of laptop, increases airflow below the laptop, available for both Windows-based laptops and Mac laptops and can be used for telephones, keyboards or even calculators. Laptop Legs/Mac Feet provide an easy way to elevate your laptop on any surface without worrying about making your laptop unstable. If anyone has an older laptop or remembers the older laptops, they did have small legs but they weren't sturdy at all and quite often broke. The Laptop Legs/Mac Feet are a well constructed and designed solution, which enable you to increase airflow beneath your laptop. The Laptop Legs/Mac Feet are easy to attach to your laptop and the packaging includes instructions on where best placement should be. They also include instructions for removal, which is handy if you happen to upgrade your laptop and wish to use the legs again.

White Cap Computer

The review talks about the Notebook Computer vs Laptop Computer and you can read all about it in the following text. There is a good chance that you may be wondering what's the difference between a notebook and a laptop computer. The answer often depends on who makes it the product. Some Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) call their mobile computers "laptops" and some call them "notebooks". Usually a notebook is considered to be smaller than a laptop. However, the terms are often used interchangeably. Lately, many new terms have been popping up. Terms like deskbooks and Tablet PC's.

A common distinction between a laptop computer and a notebook computer is that laptops are larger than notebooks and this gives an advantage to the notebook. You can use the notebook for home use, office use, outside use and you can take it with you anywhere you go. A smaller portable computer will fit easily in your bag. Laptop computers are somewhat larger than notebook computers and will accommodate a built-in disk drive unit. That is, a CD/DVD ROM drive is either built into the unit or the unit has a built-in bay that will accommodate a removable CD ROM drive. You should expect the display unit to be at least 15 inches wide, when measured diagonally. It is thought that some OEM use the term Notebook because their Laptop computer generate too much heat to actually use it on your lap. Notebook computers generally allow you to attach, via cable, a CD ROM drive. Since the drive is not built into the unit, notebooks are smaller and lighter than laptops. These units are commonly known as "Ultra Portables". Hence, a notebook is an ultra small laptop. Another way to look at it is a notebook is about the size (or a little larger than) of a real notebook. Deskbook computers often refer to mobile computers that can be considered as desktop replacement units. Deskbooks tend to be larger and heavier than average notebook/laptop computers. Generally the display units are 15 inches or larger. They tend to draw down battery power relatively quickly due to their powerful, but power-hungry, processors. Deskbooks often will contain the same processor found in desktop computers. If you are looking for the power of a desktop unit, with the freedom of mobility, then a deskbook may fit the bill.

Mobile computers have been becoming more and more popular lately. You can communicate wirelessly through the Internet much like on a cell phone. Tablet PCs are mobile computers with a twist. That is, you can literally twist the monitor. Tablet display screens will swivel on its base - usually 360 degrees. They generally allow you to capture handwriting, via a special stylus pen, and store it on the computer. Table PC software automatically turns your handwriting to text. Tablets are no more, or less, mobile than any other laptop or notebook. A stylus pen is a useful device. Some people are used to writing something with their hands.

How Laptops Work

Laptops and notebooks are popular modern products. The newest technologies focus on making the computer smaller and smaller while making the computer more powerful. Many customers think that the skyrocketing popularity of laptop computers is ironic. The small computers are completely portable and you can take them anywhere in the world. Be careful of the weather outside. The glossy screen of a laptop or notebook can get easily stained in times of rain, sleet, snow and storms outside. With time, the laptops are made to use less and less power. The laptop models make less noise than desktop models. However, they are often a little slower and have less graphics and sound processing power, although these differences can be too small for most users to notice. Many sources, such as Windows IT Pro, are saying that laptops are more expensive than desktops. The price gap is closing. Laptop prices are falling faster than desktop prices. Laptop PCs actually outsold desktop models for the first time in May of 2005. Amazingly, all the equipment found in a desktop fits into a small package. Laptops can be efficient enough to run on battery power alone, but they will not last long.

The primary difference between the laptop computer and the desktop computer is how their components fit together. Overall, laptop and desktop computers are very similar. They have the same basic hardware, software and operating systems. A desktop computer includes a motherboard, video card, hard drive and other components in a large case. The monitor, keyboard, and other peripherals connect wirelessly or with cables. Whether the case sits vertically or horizontally, it has lots of space for add-in cards, cables and air circulation. It is often the case that a laptop is much smaller and lighter than even the most compact PC tower. Its screen is an integrated part of the unit, as is its keyboard. Instead of a spacious case with lots of room for air circulation, a laptop uses a small, flat design in which all the pieces fit together snugly.

The fundamental design difference and the laptop inherent portability mean that the components have to:

    * Fit into a compact space

    * Conserve power

    * Produce less heat than desktop components (could overheat if operated too long)

You need a computer that is so small that it fits into a small bag for you to take on your trip. You can even use the computer while you are in a transportation device or while you are walking around. In any place where you can get a signal to the Internet, you may be able to connect to the Internet. If you are underground or a lot of concrete or metal is blocking your signal, you might not be able to get a signal. You need to conserve power, because it is possible to do less with more power. Your computer can get overheated and break. That’s why there is always a fan that works to cool down the computer. Often, these differences make the components more expensive, which can contribute to higher laptop prices.

Treat Laptop Charger with Care

The following article will teach you how to treat your laptop charger with care. There are many concerns about the short life span and short-circuiting of laptop chargers. Poor quality chargers do not last as long as the more expensive quality chargers and the better care you give the charger, the longer it will last. AC/DC adapter chargers need to be treated with as much care as one applies to their laptop. The charger’s tip extremely delicate. It cannot deal well with mistreatment or coming in contact with harmful objects. You can kill that charger quickly with mishandling of the cords and roughly storing the charger in a purse, laptop bag or tote improperly. If you leave the charger plugged in 24/7, this will cause overheating.

Make sure that the charger’s tip does not come in contact with any metal object like a paper clip, coin, pen, bag or tote zipper, cord’s metal ends or another adapter’s tip. Accidental short-circuiting can happen! This can cause a direct connection of the positive and negative terminals and shorting out of the adapter and or the tip.

Once the tip and charger’s terminals are damaged and short-circuited, further damage can occur to connecting objects, the laptop battery, laptop and laptop jack port, which in turn can damage future chargers.

Please handle, connect and disconnect all the cords with care. Universal chargers with interchangeable tips can also experience a temporary power disconnect if you don’t handle the cords with care. This likely is not a short circuit of the charger, but it mimics a short circuit. The tip and it’s base will come lose from the charger’s main cord and the tip needs to be removed and snapped back on to realign the tip’s connection and allow the power to reach the laptop again - sometimes this might happen through daily use.

If the charger is still supplying power to the chargers base unit, a green light will indicate it is still working and likely the tip needs replacement. Interchangeable tips are also prone to damage as permanently molded tips, and if the removal and reattachment of the tip to the cord does not correct the problem, either the tip needs to be replaced because it is damaged, or the entire charger needs to be replaced since the tip’s damage may have short circuited the charger.

The important question is: how does one avoid short-circuiting their charger? Simple - take care of it and do not leave it plugged into the laptop for continuously long periods of time. Once the battery is charged, carefully remove the charger when the laptop is not in use. The battery will drain some until the laptop is turned back on, but overcharging the battery can damage the battery, charger and laptop too.

When handling the charger, avoid allowing the metal tip to come in contact with other metal objects and carefully store the charger in your bag so the tip will not hit any metal objects; protect the ends from coming in contact with other chargers or cord ends. Do not leave the charger sitting on its own near any metal objects were it could potentially be bumped. Be careful – the charger might hit a metal object.

How to Take Good Care of your Laptop

Prevention is always better than cure. Follow these 17 steps to take good care of your laptop:

1 - Keep liquids such as coffee, soda and water away from your laptop. Keep food away from your laptop.

2 - Always have clean hands when using your laptop.

3 - Protect the LCD display monitor. When you shut your laptop, make sure there are no small items, such as a pencil or small earphones, on the keyboard.

4 - Hold and lift the computer by its base, not by its LCD display (the screen). If you lift it by the screen part alone, you could damage the display or the hinges attaching it to the base.

5 - Don't pull on the power cord. Tugging your power cord out from the power socket rather than putting your hand directly on the plug in the socket and pulling can break off the plug or damage the power socket.

6 - Don't roll your chair over the computer cord. Stick the cord onto your desk with tape or a special computer cord tie which can be easily undone when you've finished using the laptop.

7 - Plug in accessory devices into their proper slots. Always look at the symbols on the laptop carefully before inserting devices. Jamming a phone line into an Ethernet port could damage the sockets.

8 - Handle any removable drives with care. Floppy drives or CD drives that have been removed from your laptop can easily get crushed, dropped or pressed if you are careless.

9 - Insert drives into their slots carefully and at the correct angle. Pushing the wrong drive into a socket, or at an angle, or even upside down can jam it.

10 - Check to see if labels are affixed securely before inserting media into your laptop computer.

11 - Don't expose your laptop rapid temperature fluctuations. When bringing your laptop indoors during winter, don't turn it on immediately. Instead, let it warm to room temperature first.

12 - Don't leave your laptop in a car. Not only do the insides of cars experience large temperature swings that could damage a laptop, but a laptop (or laptop bag) is an inviting target for a smash and grab thief.

13 - Have the unit cleaned once a year to remove internal dust. Get this done by a computer professional.

14 - Use a properly-sized laptop case. Whatever you use to carry your laptop around in, be it a case, a bag or something you have made yourself, make sure that it it large enough to contain the laptop.

15 - Look into getting a laptop bag Many breaks happen because of laptops being dropped or bumped. A bag greatly reduces the risk of damage.

16 - Use and store in a well circulated area. When your using your laptop, do so in a place that has a constant air-circulation.

17 - Use an old tooth brush to clean the area around the exhaust fan screen. If that gets plugged up, air flow is diminished and overheating can most certainly occur.

Dell Inspiron 6000

Price is often the key factor in determining which system to get. The laptop has to be fairly priced, good performing, and nice looking. The Dell Inspiron 6000 is a reasonably good laptop. You can see more on the Dell Inspiron 6000's wide screen than on most other 15.4-inch displays thanks to its WUXGA resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. In fact, you can work with higher-resolution photographs, more spreadsheet columns, and more tiled documents simultaneously on the Inspiron 6000 than you can on some 17-inch wide screens. (The Inspiron 6000 is also available with a 1280-by-800-pixel WXGA screen or a 1680-by-1050-pixel WSXGA+ screen for $150 less or $50 less, respectively.) This 6000 has a lot more going for it than just its extra-high-resolution screen. The Dell Inspiron 6000 has a standard six-cell battery and also the nine-cell battery (a $99 option). The six-cell battery lasts an impressive 5 hours and 7 minutes on one charge, making the 6000 an excellent candidate for the road - if you don't mind its 7.5-pound weight (sans power adapter). An extra-fancy external power gauge helps you keep track of when you'll need to recharge. The Inspiron 6000 is a smoothly designed, handsome laptop with a sloped front and cream-colored trim. The unit has a multiformat DVD burner, FireWire and TV-out ports and four USB 2.0 ports, all placed for easy use. The Dell Inspiron 6000 accepts user upgrades easily. Like many laptops, it has two memory slots located in a compartment on the bottom of the laptop.

The Dell 6000’s Inspiron computer product line started as a range of laptop computers targeted at the entry-level, budget, a Mobile Celeron or Mobile Pentium II processor with SDRAM, and had a high starting price of $2,799. As of June 26, 2007 the Inspiron name also refers to a range of Dell's entry-level desktop systems, which replaced the Dimension line of desktop PCs. As of 2008, the Inspiron line is mainly a budget line.

In the past Dell has modified some offered Inspiron machines to produce computers of higher or lower quality. Note for example the first-generation Inspiron XPS and Inspiron 9100 (2004–2006). Both machines (non-base) shared the same options in processors (Intel Pentium 4 HT "Prescott"), RAM (DDR 400 MHz), hard-drives (Ultra-ATA 5400/7200 RPM), wireless cards, LCD screens (at 15.4-inches; WXGA, WSXGA+, WUXGA) and graphics cards (ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 64MB/128MB), as well as the same chassis. Dell marked the XPS as an "ultimate gaming machine", while marking the 9100 as a "desktop replacement". The Inspiron 9100 is a rebadged XPS. The only difference between Inspiron XPS and Inspiron 9100 is the LCD Panel. Although both support a 15.4 Samsung LCD only later models of the 9100(3.2 GHz) use the identical LCD screen (Dell Part #s 7T774/W3866). The Samsung LCD Panel supports 1920x1200. Previous 2.8-3.0 GHz Inspiron 9100 use a lesser panel with resolutions of 1280x800 (Dell Part # Y0316).

Find Laptop Brand and Model

Sometimes it can be very difficult to find your laptop's model number, or even its brand. If you're not sure what your laptop's model number is, don't try to order its battery just yet. It can be a very big hassle to order the wrong battery. You should follow these guidelines to uncovering your laptops information. The first thing that needs to happen is your owner's manual should have the brand and model number on the front cover. If you don't have your owner's manual then almost every laptop has a manufacturer's label on the bottom of the computer. This label should have the brand and model number on it.

This article will answer all your questions about how to install a new video card in a Dell laptop PC. Installing a new video card in a Dell laptop PC can be tricky and difficult. In fact, in some cases, there is no way to change the video card that your Dell laptop came with. If there is no way to change the video card, you will have to stay with the video card that you have. These instructions work for just a few models of Dell laptops, including the Dell Inspiron 8500 and similar laptops. You will have to research if a video card in your laptop can be upgraded. You’ll have to check if your video card can or cannot be upgraded. The difficulty of installing a new video card in a Dell laptop PC is moderately challenging.

The things you will need to do the installation are: a Dell Laptop with replaceable video card, compatible video card for your laptop, Phillips screwdriver and Flat-head screwdriver. There are 16 steps that you have to follow to make sure the installation is done properly. The steps are as follows:

The fist step is to remove the battery from the laptop.

The second step is to unplug the AC adapter.

The third step is to lay the LCD screen flat down.

The fourth step is to remove the front bezel on your laptop using a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry it loose.

The fifth step is to unscrew the three keyboard screws that are revealed now that the bezel is out of the way, using a Phillips screwdriver.

The sixth step is to carefully push the keyboard forward, then lift it off the laptop. It is not necessary to remove the keyboard completely.

The seventh step is to remove the LCD ribbon connector by gently pulling on the tag.

installing a laptop hard drive

Installing a laptop hard drive can be a very easy thing depending on the configuration of your computer. You could have a bad hard drive, or maybe you need more storage space. What you need to do is you need to learn how to do laptop upgrades that will save you a lot of time and money. You have to notice that each laptop is a little different, but these general steps will help you with the installation process.

The first step is to back up your data. You could be replacing an existing drive and the hard drive could still be functional. What you need to do is back up any important data stored on the hard drive. You have to remember that if you are selling or giving the original hard drive to someone else, erase the data on the disk by formatting it.

The second step is to turn off the laptop and unplug it. Locate the slot that houses the hard drive, remove the screw that connects the slot cover, and then gently pull the hard drive out. The hard drive will be enclosed in a sled type housing, which is often connected to the slot cover.

The third step is to carefully remove the old hard drive from the sled and attach the new hard drive to it. Replace the sled screws, but do not over-tighten them. Align the hard drive pins with the connector in the laptop, slide the hard drive into the slot, and then replace the cover.

The fourth step is to restart your laptop and follow the instructions in your owner's manual to enter your system's BIOS. If the new hard drive is installed properly, it will be recognized by the BIOS.

The fifth step is to load your operating system disk into the CD or DVD drive, reboot the computer, then follow the instructions on the screen to format and install your operating system. Once the operating system is installed, transfer your personal data to the new hard drive.

The following are some helpful tips and warnings that you should follow for your laptop. Anti-static bags are what you have to use when storing functional laptop hard drives (when the hard drives are not in use). Please make sure that you enclose them in a layer of bubble wrap while in storage. Some laptops require a bit of disassembly to get to the hard drive. Refer to your owner's manual to determine how to remove the hard drive from your particular model. Hard drives are very sensitive to cold, heat and jarring. Never hit, bump or drop a laptop hard drive. If your goal is to protect wealth, then you have to do everything you can to keep the hard drives from getting damaged. If you want to, you can throw out old hard drives that you don’t need anymore.

How to install a new laptop battery

This article will explain with great detail how to install a new laptop battery. A laptop is not a personal computer – you don’t have to connect it to a socket in the wall. Batteries can be inserted into the laptop and you can sure is it on the go. You can use it for student use, business use, home use, and office use and even outside. Take your laptop to the library, to the office place and everywhere you want to go. Some places provide free Internet access for a local geographical area that you are in, so that you can connect to the Internet wirelessly from your laptop. Laptop batteries lose their battery life over time, so replacement is necessary if you don’t want to keep it plugged in all the time or purchase a new laptop. In this how-to article, you will quickly learn the easy process of replacing batteries in your laptop. You will need to get a new laptop battery to do this.

Step 1 is to figure out what laptop battery to buy. Look at the manufacturer of your laptop, model number and other information about the laptop. Write it down, if you want.

Step 2 is to go to the manufacturer's web site (e.g. HP, Dell, IBM etc.). Type in the model number, manufacturer and any other needed information for your laptop. The informative web site should now tell you what laptop batteries are compatible with your laptop. Look up store locations and any other useful information you need to buy them.

Step 3 is to purchase the battery that fits your laptop, either from a local store, your manufacturer's web site or a web site online. You may see two different batteries for your laptop - a 6-cell and a 12-cell battery. The difference between the two is the amount of battery life you'll get per charge. The 6-cell batteries generally can run a laptop for 2 1/2 to 3 hours per charge, whereas 12-cell batteries generally can run a laptop for 4-5 hours per charge.

Step 4 is to turn off your laptop and flip it over. Locate the battery compartment. If you're not sure where it is, check your computer's manual or the manufacturer's website.

Step 5 is to press the button to eject the battery from the battery compartment. Some laptops have a button to either pull or push to eject the battery.

Step 6 is to keep or properly dispose of the old battery. Some people like to keep their old laptop batteries as a back up, whereas others want to get rid of them. If you want to get rid of the battery, take it to an electronics recycling place rather than throwing it in the trash.

Step 7 is to insert the new laptop battery, checking the instructions provided with the laptop battery. The new battery should firmly slide into place - if it doesn't, then you've purchased the wrong battery for your laptop.

Step 8 is to plug in the laptop and turn it on. Once the laptop has fully booted up, you should see the laptop battery charging (the icon is on the bottom right of the screen). If it is, then the battery has been installed correctly. If it's not, or you see a big red X over the battery icon, then the battery is either faulty or incompatible with your laptop.

How to Replace an HP Laptop Motherboard

The Instructions are as follows:

Step 1

When you bought your HP laptop and laptop parts, a user manual came with it. The manual talks about replacement laptop parts. Many other useful topics about your laptop are covered in the manual, as well. Check the user's manual or navigate to the HP support website and find the model of motherboard your laptop uses. If you want, you can buy a corresponding replacement motherboard. Another thing you can do is power off the HP laptop and close the screen's lid. Turn the HP laptop computer over so that the battery is facing up toward you. Remove the battery by holding down the battery's latch.

Step 2

The bottom of the case is one of the laptop parts that you have to worry about. Remove all of the screws from the bottom of the case. You can remove screws from the replacement laptop parts of your choice. Lift up the two plastic covers near the middle of the case that protect the hard drive and RAM modules. Pull the hard drive directly out of the case and set it aside. Grab both ends of the exposed RAM module and remove it from the case at a 30-degree angle. Repeat the process with the second RAM module if your particular model of HP laptop has a second memory module.

Step 3

There is a disc drive on the left side of your HP laptop. You have to pull the disc drive on the left side of the HP laptop directly out of the case and set it aside. Turn the computer back over and open up the screen's lid. You’ll need to use a screwdriver – be careful not to damage your laptop. Push a flat object, such as a screwdriver head, underneath the large plastic piece above the keyboard that houses the indicator lights and power button. Pop the plastic piece off the HP laptop. The thing to do now is to disconnect the cable connecting the plastic piece to the motherboard.

Step 4

You will have to disconnect some more laptop parts – be careful not to lose the parts. Pull the HP laptop's keyboard off the case and then disconnect the cable connecting it to the motherboard. Remove the screws holding the screen hinges to the case. Pull out the hinges and set them aside. There is a network card that has to be removed. Locate the network card at the left end of the motherboard. Pull the card off its port on the motherboard and set it aside.

Step 5

The screws that have to be removed are the ones holding the graphics card to the motherboard if your model of HP laptop has an extra graphics adapter. Take out the card off the motherboard and set it aside. Remove the screws holding the fan and heat sink unit to the laptop's processor. Remove the unit and then pull the processor off its motherboard socket. Set both pieces aside – don’t lose them.

Step 6

The screws along the edges of the motherboard have to be pulled out. You will need to lift the motherboard straight up and remove it completely from the HP laptop's case. The ports have to be lined up on the sides of the new motherboard with the corresponding holes on the case. The motherboard has to be pushed down into the case. Reconnect the screws with care.

Step 7

All of the internal parts you removed to get to the laptop have to be reassembled. Set the plastic piece and keyboard back onto the case. Replace the battery and then reconnect the hard drive, disc drive, RAM modules and plastic covers. All the screws have to be replaced. Power on the HP laptop and wait for the operating system to load completely to make sure the motherboard is working.

Tips & Warnings

Three different-sized screws are holding the various pieces together inside your HP laptop. Keep three different containers at hand while you work so you can segregate the various screws and avoid losing them or mixing them up.

Do not open up a laptop computer without grounding yourself first by touching a metal object rooted to the floor. The electricity in your body can ruin your laptop if you don't ground yourself.
